Stephen D. Vose, 70, passed away on August 19, 2022, at his home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts on September 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Donald and Thelma Vose. He was raised in Beverly until the age of 13, when he and his family moved to Ipswich. He graduated from Ipswich High School in 1969.
Right out of high school, Stephen joined the Airforce, proudly serving his country.
Stephen took a management position with Star Market and continued that role for 20 years. He then went on to have his own Pepperidge Farm route for 15 years, taking care of his own sections of stores in the North Shore. Stephen moved to Walpole in 2003 and married Kathleen M. Vose on August 6, 2004, in Ipswich, MA. At the end of his working years, Stephen was a Special Needs Transportation driver for the Town of Walpole and retired in 2016 after 5 years of service.
Throughout his life, Stephen loved weather and had an appreciation for being able to experience all the New England seasons. He also enjoyed tuning in to weather predictions, often making his own. He spent a lot of his down time reading weather maps and weather radar. He was the go-to weatherman for his friends and family because they knew he would provide them with more than just a general weather report.
Being an avid sports fan, Stephen would love to watch all of his Boston teams. When he wasn’t watching a game, he would be outside taking care of his yard, doing little odds and ends. One of his big projects that he took on was adding a deck for his family to enjoy. Another guilty pleasure was his love for the ocean and driving his boat around Plum Island. He and Kathy enjoyed travelling to Bermuda, Nova Scotia, and Florida. Baseball was one of Stephen’s favorite sports, so they made a trip to Cooperstown, NY to see the Baseball Hall of fame and went to Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland to watch the Red Sox play.
Stephen had a passion for helping others. For many years he was on the Ipswich call fire department where he was able to use his skills as an EMT. He also spent time working with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Response Volunteer.
Devoted husband of Kathleen Vose of Walpole.
Loving father of Brandy Vose of Merrimack, MA, Shana Paquette (Michael) of Ipswich, and Stephen Vose Jr. of Norton and stepfather of Kelly Richardson (Robert) of North Smithfield, RI, Kerri Oppedisano (Adam) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kaitlin Rogers-Frissora of Bellingham.
