Lillian L. (King) Macomber, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2022, at her daughter's home in Wrentham, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Walpole, Massachusetts on February 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Sullivan) King. She was raised in East Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1945. Following her graduation, Lillian continued her education, taking secretarial courses to earn her certificate.
Lillian married her beloved husband, Francis X. Macomber, on September 6, 1948, in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The young couple made their home together in East Walpole, where they welcomed nine children. Lillian took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family, in addition to working as a crossing guard at the Bird School. As her children began to grow up, Lillian went on to take a part-time position with Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole, working as the parish secretary. She maintained her position with the parish for thirty-one years before her retirement.
As a graduate of Walpole High School, Lillian participated in planning reunions for her graduating class and looked forward to seeing her classmates every couple of years. She and her husband loved attending dances held by Saint Mary's Parish, showing off their jitterbug dancing skills. Lillian enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, spending the afternoon laughing and sharing stories.
While she stayed busy, Lillian enjoyed her quiet time too, completing jigsaw puzzles, tending to her flower garden, or spending time in her kitchen creating one of her family famous baked goods. Lillian also enjoyed playing the piano. She and Frank regularly traveled to York, Maine for a quiet getaway, visiting their favorite lighthouse.
However, most of all, Lillian was dedicated to her family. She was delighted at the birth of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, treasuring every moment she was with them.

Loving mother of Linda Oberlander and Peter of Wrentham, Mary Attanasio of Torrington, Connecticut, Brian Macomber and Joyce Lai of Brighton, Brad Macomber and Traci of Franklin, Judith Whitmarsh and George Hope of Norton, Frank Macomber and Helen Baker of Haverhill, Thomas Macomber of Norfolk, the late Stephen Macomber, and the late Robert Macomber.
Cherished Nana of twelve grandchildren and Great Nana of three great grandchildren.
Sister of Thomas King of East Walpole and the late Dorothy Morse.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Lillian's Life Celebration on Monday, April 4, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
All are invited to gather in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 9:30 AM, prior to Lillian's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lillian's name may be made to: Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
