Lillian L. Macomber
Lillian L. (King) Macomber, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2022, at her daughter's home in Wrentham, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Walpole, Massachusetts on February 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Sullivan) King. She was raised in East Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1945. Following her graduation, Lillian continued her education, taking secretarial courses to earn her certificate.
Lillian married her beloved husband, Francis X. Macomber, on September 6, 1948, in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. The young couple made their home together in East Walpole, where they welcomed nine children. Lillian took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her family, in addition to working as a crossing guard at the Bird School. As her children began to grow up, Lillian went on to take a part-time position with Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole, working as the parish secretary. She maintained her position with the parish for thirty-one years before her retirement.
As a graduate of Walpole High School, Lillian participated in planning reunions for her graduating class and looked forward to seeing her classmates every couple of years. She and her husband loved attending dances held by Saint Mary's Parish, showing off their jitterbug dancing skills. Lillian enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, spending the afternoon laughing and sharing stories.
While she stayed busy, Lillian enjoyed her quiet time too, completing jigsaw puzzles, tending to her flower garden, or spending time in her kitchen creating one of her family famous baked goods. Lillian also enjoyed playing the piano. She and Frank regularly traveled to York, Maine for a quiet getaway, visiting their favorite lighthouse.
However, most of all, Lillian was dedicated to her family. She was delighted at the birth of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, treasuring every moment she was with them.

I enjoyed your Mom when I had the chance to sit and chat with her at family functions.. she had a way of making people feel special. She listened. Angels are escorting her on her journey.
Many blessings to all of you.

A great woman of the "greatest generation" has passed on. She will be remembered as an inspiration to her family. I have many fond memories of visits to Walpole - Thanksgiving Day will always hold a special place in my heart and mind, as well as visits in the summertime and 'cookouts' in the back yard. Rest in peace Lillian, you will be fondly remembered....
